RICHARD DEAN Painting and Decorating review

The record is clean but thin: researched for our September round but outside the ranked ten, an Overdale decorator with five stars on Google and a directory source agreeing. There is no website and no stated terms. Read both sources, then phone the listing number for terms. The two marks agree with each other, which is reassuring as far as it goes in a profile with no stated terms to read alongside.

No trade-scheme membership could be sourced from any register or platform we checked, and with no website there is nowhere else to look. That is normal in this trade, where no registration applies by law. Ask about current membership when you phone. That leaves the customer record and the phone call as the basis for judging the business.

No pricing statements of any kind were found — no rates, quote terms or VAT position. Phone the listing number with the decorating you want and ask for one itemised fixed quote. Confirm who supplies materials before you agree anything. No quote route beyond the listing number is published, so the phone call sets out the scope, the materials and the fixed figure.

RICHARD DEAN Painting and Decorating works from Overdale in Telford, with the Places record and a trade directory giving the same matching address. The Places listing carries a mobile number. Send your area with the job description to confirm cover. The stated patch is Telford from the Overdale base, so include your street and the rooms involved when you get in touch.

It was researched for our September wallpaper hanging round but sits outside the ranked ten, so it carries no position. The thin public record beyond reviews held it back against fuller profiles. Read the full review, then phone for terms. Firms can send detail through Claim a listing. The gap behind that position is paperwork rather than anything adverse: no website and no stated terms of any kind.

Phone the mobile number on the Places listing, since there is no website, no email address and no quote form. Describe the rooms, the walls and the finish you want, and ask for one itemised fixed figure covering labour, preparation and materials. Confirm who supplies the paper and the decorating materials before you agree anything, and keep the quote alongside the listing address.

Both sources on the record sit at the top of their scales: five stars on Google and agreement from a directory source. That two-way agreement is a clean story, though a modest one next to the deeper records at the top of the ranked table. Read both sources yourself, then use the phone call to fill in everything the marks cannot tell you.

The ranked ten pair customer evidence with fuller published detail such as working sites, quote routes and stated terms, while this profile offers strong marks plus a phone number. Its two agreeing sources stand up well on reviews alone against thinner ranked records further down the table. The difference is paperwork: the ranked firms show more of it, so the phone call here has more ground to cover.
